Uzbekistan: A New Center for IT Export Growth in Central Asia

Central Asia is gradually emerging as one of the new growth points of the global digital economy. Among the countries of the region, Uzbekistan’s IT ecosystem has been developing particularly rapidly, demonstrating a noticeable increase in export potential in recent years.
According to industry statistics, Uzbekistan’s IT services exports reached approximately $344 million in 2023, while the national program Digital Uzbekistan 2030 sets an ambitious target to increase this figure to $5 billion by the end of the decade.
One of the key drivers of this growth is IT Park Uzbekistan, a national technology platform that brings together thousands of IT companies and startups. Today, the park hosts more than 2,800 resident companies, around 750 of which are export-oriented, delivering digital solutions to over 90 countries worldwide.
Uzbekistan’s IT export specialization is developing across several key areas:
• software development and engineering solutions
• IT outsourcing and near-shore development
• fintech and digital platform solutions
• business process outsourcing (BPO)
• creative and game-tech industries
The primary export markets include the United States, Europe, CIS countries, and the Asia-Pacific region, reflecting the country’s growing integration into global digital service supply chains.
Interestingly, the structure of the market remains typical for emerging technology ecosystems: most companies operate as small and medium-sized businesses, while a new generation of export-oriented firms is gradually forming in the segments of software engineering, AI solutions, and IT outsourcing.
In this context, international technology platforms are becoming increasingly important, enabling companies from emerging digital regions to integrate into the global innovation economy.
One of the most prominent of these platforms is GITEX, the largest technology ecosystem in the Middle East, bringing together startups, investors, global corporations, and government initiatives driving digital transformation.
For companies from Central Asia, participation in such international technology events is no longer just a promotional tool it is a mechanism for entering global markets, attracting investment, and building long-term international partnerships.
As the regional IT ecosystem continues to evolve, Uzbekistan is gradually shaping a new role as a technology export hub of Central Asia, connecting the markets of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
And this process is only just beginning.
