GITEX Africa 2026: Marrakech Becomes a Hub for Africa’s Technological Transformation

From April 7-9, 2026, Marrakech will host GITEX Africa 2026, the largest technology and startup event on the African continent, reflecting the rapid growth of the region’s digital economy and the increasing interest of international technology companies in African markets. The exhibition brings together global technology corporations, startups, investors, government entities, and digital solution providers, forming a key platform for entering one of the fastest-growing markets in the world.

Africa is increasingly viewed as one of the new centers of global technological growth. According to analysts, the continent’s digital economy could contribute up to $712 billion to GDP by 2050, while Africa’s population is expected to reach 1.7 billion by 2030, creating the world’s fastest-growing digital audience. Mobile technology adoption and fintech penetration in several African countries already exceed those of many emerging markets, making the region attractive for companies in artificial intelligence, digital platforms, cloud solutions, and telecom infrastructure.

GITEX Africa 2026 reflects this trend and becomes a focal point for companies pursuing international expansion. The event’s agenda covers key areas of digital transformation, including artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, fintech, smart city solutions, digital government, telecom infrastructure, and sector-specific technology solutions for industry, logistics, and energy.

In 2026, Russia will be represented at the exhibition by two collective pavilions. The first pavilion is organized under the Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovations and Trade of St. Petersburg, bringing together companies in AI, digital platforms, PropTech, analytics solutions, information security, and infrastructure software. Among the participants are developers of cloud solutions, data analytics systems, digital platforms, PropTech solutions, and technology services for businesses and government entities.

The second pavilion is organized with the support of the Russian Export Center (REC) and includes companies focused on telecom solutions, software, infrastructure IT products, navigation systems, digital services, cybersecurity, and industry technology platforms. The participants are primarily export-oriented and aim to develop partnerships across the Middle East and African markets.

The key focus areas of the Russian participants include artificial intelligence, software development, digital platforms, telecom infrastructure, cybersecurity, smart city solutions, and enterprise technologies. This profile aligns with the core needs of African markets, where digital infrastructure, fintech ecosystems, government digital services, and telecom solutions are rapidly expanding.

The participation of Russian companies in GITEX Africa 2026 reflects the growing interest in Africa as a new direction for international technology expansion. For developers of software, AI solutions, digital platforms, and infrastructure technologies, the region offers opportunities for pilot projects, local partnerships, and scaling in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech is not just an exhibition but a strategic platform for building international technology partnerships and entering new markets. Africa is steadily emerging as one of the key regions of global digital transformation, and the participation of international technology players confirms long-term interest in the continent’s digital infrastructure development.
