GITEX Africa 2026 - Day 1: Africa Strengthens Its Role as a Global Technology Hub

On April 7, GITEX Africa 2026 opened in Marrakech, the largest technology event on the African continent, bringing together global technology companies, startups, investors, and government entities. The first day already demonstrated the scale of growing interest in Africa’s digital economy and the region’s increasing role in the global technology agenda.

In 2026, the exhibition features more than 1,400 companies and startups from 130+ countries, with total attendance expected to exceed 45,000–50,000 industry professionals. The conference program brings together hundreds of speakers, investors, and government representatives, creating a platform to discuss digital transformation and launch new technology projects across the region.

Key themes of Day 1 included artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, fintech, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and smart city technologies. Special attention is given to Africa’s rapidly expanding digital economy, where demand for telecom infrastructure, AI solutions, government digital services, and enterprise technology platforms continues to grow.

The second pavilion is organized with the support of the Russian Export Center (REC) and includes companies specializing in software, telecom solutions, digital services, infrastructure IT products, navigation systems, and enterprise technologies.

The profile of companies in the Russian pavilions aligns with key needs of the African market: development of digital infrastructure, AI implementation, government digital services, fintech ecosystems, and corporate technology platforms. This creates a foundation for pilot projects, local partnerships, and further scaling of solutions in the region.

Profex Group, as the official representative of the GITEX exhibition ecosystem across CIS markets, supports company participation and views GITEX Africa as a strategic platform for technology businesses entering African markets. Participation in such international events enables companies not only to showcase solutions but also to build a structured international expansion strategy. Day 1 of GITEX Africa 2026 confirmed strong international interest in the region and Africa’s growing role as one of the new centers of global technological transformation. The high concentration of investors, government entities, and technology companies makes the exhibition a key platform for forming international partnerships.

In the coming days: national pavilion overviews, technology presentations, investor meetings, and analysis of key digital economy trends across the region.
